Stove removal in Albuquerque

We slide the old range out, protect the floor and walk it out of the house. If it is gas, the line has to be dealt with first. Tell us when you call.

What this covers

  • Freestanding gas and electric ranges
  • Slide-in ranges
  • Ovens that came with the kitchen
  • Stoves left behind in rentals and flips

What it does not

  • Disconnecting or capping a gas line
  • Cutting out built-in wall ovens or cooktops
  • Repairing tile or flooring under the range

Gas ranges come first

Connectors on some older ranges can fail, and New Mexico Gas Company says even a slight move can do it. Its notice says to leave inspection and replacement to a licensed plumber, HVAC technician or contractor, and that a disconnected line gets plugged and capped (NMGC, 2021).

If a new range is being installed, ask the installer whether they disconnect the old one. Our guide to gas stoves walks through who does what.

Electric ranges

Most electric ranges plug in behind the bottom drawer panel on a large outlet. Turn the breaker off before anyone reaches back there. If the range is hard-wired into the wall, an electrician should free it first.

Your floor

A range sits on small feet, and it is heavy on a small area. Saltillo and older vinyl can chip or tear when one gets dragged, so we slide it onto cardboard before it moves. Expect to find a clean rectangle of floor and some grease behind it. Plan a few minutes with a scraper before the new one goes in.
